Mining & Mineral Processing
Mineral Resource Assessment, Mining and Beneficiation Process Engineering and Design projects.

Description

The 200 tons-per-hour glass/frac sand mine and processing plant is located on the bank of the Mississippi River in Clayton, Iowa. The turnkey project encompassed process development, engineering design, construction plans, and construction management. The plant will produce sand and glass sand products utilizing primarily washing, sizing, and drying. This project is the second turnkey fracturing sand plant presently under construction.

FEDINC provided detailed engineering design plans and specifications suitable for procurement and construction which included multi-disciplined coordination of Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Piping, Process Flow Diagram (PFD), and Piping and Instrumentation Design (P&ID) engineering.

FEDINC provided supervision, coordination and administration of technical specialty engineering and contractor teams dedicated to specific assignments. Construction management included conceptual project meetings with client, preparation and development of conceptual drawings, preliminary engineering and cost estimating, construction drawing packages, specifications, bidding documents, and provision of certified quality assurance (CQA) and final certification of construction. Specification preparation, vendor and subcontractor solicitation, quotation evaluation, purchasing, scheduling and expediting was also provided. Construction related activities began in early March 2007 which included: preparation of construction drawings, bid documents, contractor selection, provision of construction management and construction quality assurance services and construction certification.

Description

The 50 tons-per-hour heavy minerals processing plant is located in the Ukraine. The turnkey project encompassed electrical and control systems, civil engineering, process development, engineering design, construction plans, steel and electro-mechanical equipment are included as well as technical training.

Key design advances in gas re-circulation, high-pressure oil burner and heat recuperation systems not only reduce emissions of greenhouse gases and dioxins from pelletizing and sintering plants, but also generate savings in both capital and operating costs.

The new pelletizing core plant design encompassed a traveling grate indurating furnace area, an indurating furnace with a grate area of 768 m2, a double-deck roller screen, and a hearth layer screen, as well as six process-gas fans and four electrostatic precipitators to minimize environmental impact.

FEDINC provided detailed engineering design plans and specifications suitable for procurement and construction which included multi-disciplined coordination of Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Piping, PFD, and P&ID engineering.
