Description

FEDINC was contracted to provide detailed engineering design plans and specifications suitable for procurement and construction of a 200 tons-per-hour frac sand plant in Apache County, Sanders, Arizona. The plant produces sand and glass sand products utilizing primarily washing, sizing, and drying. The turnkey project encompassed process development, engineering design, construction plans, and construction management. This project was the first turnkey fracturing sand plant under construction in the United States.

The project included multi-disciplined coordination of Civil, Structural, Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Piping, Process Flow Diagram (PFD), and Piping and Instrumentation Design (P&ID) engineering. FEDINC also provided the design for the warehouse facilities in the industrial park.

FEDINC provided supervision, coordination and administration of technical specialty engineering and contractor teams dedicated to specific assignments. Construction management included conceptual project meetings with client, preparation and development of conceptual drawings, preliminary engineering and cost estimating, construction drawing packages, specifications, bidding documents, and provision of certified quality assurance (CQA) and final certification of construction. Specification preparation, vendor and subcontractor solicitation, quotation evaluation, purchasing, scheduling and expediting was provided. Construction related activities began in early March 2007, which included: preparation of construction drawings, bid documents, contractor selection, provision of construction management and construction quality assurance services and construction certification.
